Tiled showers are one of our specialties. When it comes to installing tile in your shower one of the most important aspects of the shower is never even seen.
The work done before the tile installation needs to be precise and effective to ensure any water that makes it past the tile and grout goes down the drain and not into your walls and subfloor. This can cause major damage to your home! Most people and sadly even some contractors believe that tile and grout are waterproof, however, that is not the case. If steps are skipped during the preparation of the shower and waterproofing, you could find yourself with a leaking shower.
Unfortunately, many of our clients call us after they start to notice excessive mildew growing on their grout joints or see damage to the sheetrock or baseboard directly next to their new shower. This is often the result of a shower not properly prepared for tile installation. Unfortunately, if you can see water damage from a leaking shower, in most cases the only fix is a complete remodel. It can sometimes take years for a leaky shower to show itself on the surface, meanwhile, the damage is taking place inside the walls.
There are multiple acceptable and TCNA (Tile Council of N. America) approved ways to prepare a shower for tile installation. We are familiar with all of them and depending on your tile choice, location, and budget we will always use one of the approved and time tested methods for shower tile installation and waterproofing. Many of the materials manufacturers offer great warranties when using their complete product line and we are happy to help you register for the warranty.
Building a shower is like making a cake. You cannot skip steps and expect it to be beautiful and delicious. Some people can make a tasty cake but the presentation is poor, on the other hand, some might make their cake look good on the outside, but the taste leaves a lot to be desired! Just like it takes a real professional to bake both a good looking and delicious cake, it also takes a real professional to build a functional and beautiful tiled shower.
When considering a large investment like a tiled shower, we urge you to take your time when choosing both the tile itself and the contractor you will hire. Take into consideration these 5 points.
- Does the contractor specialize in shower tile installation?
- What materials are being used for the waterproofing of the substrate?
- Will a Flood Test be performed on the shower pan?
- Does the manufacturer of the installation products offer a warranty?
- Does the contractor offer a warranty on the workmanship?

Trevor at WNA Tile and Design did an amazing job on our kitchen tile backsplash! Right from the beginning, he was professional and reliable. He had many options to choose from for grout color and schluter and offered his opinion on what would look best and what would really draw someone's eye to a focal point in the kitchen. It is very obvious that he kepts attention to detail and takes pride in his work. Even after the work was completed, he came back to touch up what he "felt" was not perfect but wasn't even noticeable to us. Trevor and his team installed a heated floor system and laid a complicated tile pattern in our porch area and it looks and feels amazing. First time using this company, and will definitely use them again. We needed two bathrooms redone with tile. Quoted price was very reasonable and ended up being accurate. The work was completed when they said it would be, and the results are perfect. We were very impressed with the attention to detail displayed. They are also very helpful with suggesting designs or options that we would not have thought of but turned out great. It’s very helpful to have someone with a lot of knowledge to discuss and plan the project with for those of us who don’t know much about tile work, design or renovations in general. The fact that there is a lifetime warranty on the shower tile installation is an added bonus. Really I can’t say enough good things about this company and their work. Highly recommended.
I have used Trevor twice now. Each job was completed on time and on budget. The crew was very courteous as we were home during one of the projects. We barely knew they were working while we were in the house. The quality and attention to detail proved that they take pride in their work. They even went out of their way to seek options and warranty possibilities as one of our project was fixing a leaky shower installed by another contractor. In the end they saved me thousands off of the job. The bottom line is; I would use them again and again. In this day and age it is hard to find reliable help. Here it is. The only short fall I felt was on my part. I feel we could have helped Trevor decide on some design options, but we trusted his judgement. The showers turned out amazing!
The quality in the work, and attention to detail is immaculate and really speaks for itself. Always professional and will always stand behind the quality of his work. I picked a more “complicated tile” for the base but he spent the time figuring out how to make it work as I had my heart set on it. I really cannot say enough good things and would highly recommend.
WNA have remodelled various rooms in my house. The latest was a complete bathroom renovation. The tile work in the walk in shower is flawless. It is outfitted with rain and telephone shower heads including overhead LED lights and heated tiled floor. I am a repeat customer and will be calling them up for the next project.
